We are now a pet family

.....Well if you count fish as pets. Garrett had been saving up his money for months to buy a fish. He called it "operation get a pet". We went to Wal-mart he priced everything he wanted for this "operation", and started working to earn the money. Jason and I are not "pet People", but we started talking, "are fish really pets". They don't make noise, shed hair everywhere, poop on your carpet, kill your grass, bring in bugs, so maybe we could deal with fish. Garrett had it in his head that we had to buy his fish at Wal-mart, but we were trying to convince him that it would be better to go to Pet Smart or Petco, because they could tell us everything we needed to know and buy. So we went to there, checked everything out, asked questions, and priced things. Garrett was having none of that. No, we had to go to Wal-mart. So we thought we would think about the Family fish tank for a while longer, and just appease Garrett with his desire to buy his fish at Wal-mart. First thing Monday morning I take him to Wal-mart. We head straight for the fish section (living fish). We decided on a Beta fish before hand. He took a good look at all the betas. He already had a name for him (bubba), because when they move their mouths it looks like they are saying bubba. He kept saying, "which one of you is Bubba", then he found him. The perfect fish. He grabbed everything else he wanted, the tank and all, and off we went. Now we are noticing that Bubba may be a little old. You know how they freak out when you put a mirror in front of them? Well, Bubba doesn't do that. He's quite a boring fish. I don't know how long he will last. Poor Bubba! Can you take fish back if they die right away? I don't know. Maybe now Garrett will realize that his parents do know what they are talking about when we say we should buy pets at a pet store and not Wal-mart.
